Email intake

The board has its own email address. Send a journal entry workbook to it with the entry named in the subject, and the board does the filing.

How it flows

Your email lands, the attachments are kept with the board, and the same reader that handles a dropped file reads the workbook. Then one of two things happens:

• Confident match. The board is sure which entry the file belongs to, drafts it there, marks it as arrived by email, and says so on the row.
• Not confident. You get a banner and the decision stays yours. The board would rather ask than guess, because a file drafted onto the wrong entry is worse than a file waiting for a person.

Confidence is earned, not assumed: the match has to clearly dominate every other candidate entry before the board will act on it alone.

Who can send

Only board members. Mail from anyone else is bounced with an explanation, at the front door, before an attachment is ever opened. The membership list that controls the board controls the mailbox.

What the row shows

An entry drafted from email carries its provenance: the sender, the message, and which attachment was read. If the email carried several files, a picker lets you switch to a different attachment, and the recompute stays pinned to the one already read until you change it.
